Hand Therapy: Your Journey to Precision and Strength

Hand therapy is the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of conditions and injuries involving an individual’s upper extremity (shoulder, arm, elbow, forearm, wrist and hand). A hand therapist is a registered physiotherapist or occupational therapist, who has become proficient in treatment of upper extremity conditions through advanced education and clinical experience. At NeuroFunction Rehab, our hand therapists have obtained the CHT (Certified Hand Therapist) credential which requires a minimum of five years of clinical practice and passing a rigorous certification exam. Every CHT is required to demonstrate continued professional development and competency every five years to retain their certification.

Conditions Treated: Hand therapists are trained to manage a wide range of conditions, including:

Orthopedic Injuries: Fractures, dislocations, and soft tissue injuries.

Tendon and Nerve Disorders: Conditions like tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and nerve injuries.

Arthritis: Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis affecting the hands.

Post-Surgical Rehabilitation: Rehabilitation after hand surgeries, such as tendon repairs or joint replacements.

Work-Related Injuries: Conditions arising from occupational activities.
